November is Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Awareness Month

With the holiday season coming up soon, we know you’ve got a lot on your to-do list. But this November, we ask you to remember that it’s COPD Awareness Month.

COPD isn’t to be taken lightly. It’s the third leading cause of death in the United States and while more than 11 million people have been diagnosed, as many as 13 million people may have COPD and not even know it.  I went into the hospital in August for intestinal problems and discovered not only did I have COPD, I was functioning on (at the time) 20% of my lung capacity.  I have been on oxygen full time ever since.

And did you know that not all COPD is cigarette smoke related.
